Advising

Long-Term Advisory Partnerships

I establish deep, ongoing advisory relationships with a select number of technology companies. These partnerships are designed to provide consistent strategic guidance, accountability, and support as you navigate the complex challenges of building and scaling a technology business.

How Advisory Relationships Work

Minimum Commitment: 6 Months

Advisory relationships require a minimum 6-month commitment to ensure we have sufficient time to:

  • Build deep understanding of your business and challenges
  • Implement meaningful changes and see results
  • Establish trust and effective working rhythms
  • Navigate through at least one complete planning or development cycle

From Consulting to Advising

The best advisory relationships often begin with consulting engagements. This allows us to:

  • Test our working relationship through shorter-term projects
  • Demonstrate value before committing to a longer partnership
  • Understand your needs and ensure I can provide meaningful impact
  • Build trust through concrete deliverables and results

Typical Path:

  1. Start with 1-3 months of consulting work
  2. Evaluate mutual fit and value creation
  3. Transition to 6+ month advisory relationship
  4. Extend and deepen partnership as needed

Why Long-Term Advisory Works

Deep Context

Unlike consultants who parachute in and out, I develop deep understanding of your:

  • Business model and market dynamics
  • Technical architecture and debt
  • Team capabilities and gaps
  • Cultural strengths and challenges

Sustained Impact

Long-term engagement enables:

  • Iterative improvement rather than one-time fixes
  • Relationship building with your entire team
  • Accountability for implementing changes
  • Measurement of actual outcomes

Trusted Partnership

Over time, I become:

  • A trusted sounding board for difficult decisions
  • An external perspective in internal debates
  • A connector to my network of experts and resources
  • An advocate for your success

Current Advisory Portfolio

I maintain advisory relationships with 3-5 companies at any given time to ensure each receives proper attention. Current focus areas include:

  • B2B SaaS platforms
  • Developer tools and infrastructure
  • HealthTech and regulated industries
  • AI/ML-enabled products

Start with a focused consulting project to:

  • Address an immediate need
  • Establish working relationship
  • Demonstrate value

Step 3: Advisory Proposal

Based on our initial work together, I’ll propose:

  • Specific focus areas and objectives

  • Compensation model (equity, cash, or hybrid)
  • Success metrics and milestones

Step 4: Formal Agreement

We’ll establish:

  • 6-month minimum commitment
  • Clear expectations and deliverables
  • Communication rhythms and channels
  • Renewal and extension terms
